Sometimes, I met a English tutor online who has almost no reaction.

When I talk with them, I can’t distinguish whether network is not working or they have no reaction.
So I have no idea if it’s okay to keep talking or if I should stop talking.

I’ve heared that in other contries, nodding is not as important as it is in Japan, but I thought it was important to respond whether or not the other person was listening to me.

I think people in English speaking countries make responses when they are listening carefully.
At least that is the case in the UK. They verbally respond by saying “aha”, “hmm”, “right” or some other variations of those.

たまにオンライン英会話で、妙にリアクションが薄い先生がいるんだよ。
そういう先生の時って、ネットワークの調子が悪いから反応が無いのか、本当にリアクションが無いのか、全然判別がつかなくて、

外国だと日本ほど相槌が重要じゃない、というのを聞いた事があるが、やっぱり相手の話を聞いてるかどうかの反応は重要だと思った。
