During an online English conversation class, we were sharing interesting stories when the topic of Thai people and their religion arose.
I learned that some Thai monks are involved in corruption and apparently, the corruption is so severe that people are turning away from their religion.
“If you do a quick online search using the phrase ‘Bad Thai Monks’ you would find numerous shocking images”, I tried searching online using the phrase and confirmed that it was really true.
Later, I spoke with a friend living in England about what I had learned, and she had a lot of information to share on the subject.
It seems that the problem of corrupt monks is not limited to Thailand but is happening all over the world. It all seems incredibly surreal.

と言われたが、マジだった。
「僧侶の腐敗って、世界的にも結構起こってるみたいね。どこかの寺で『僧侶の麻薬検査を実施したらほぼ全員引っかかって、寺が空っぽになった』ってニュース見たことあるよ」
とトンでもない情報が返ってきた。
