When I was taking an English online class by a Ghanaian tutor ,she asked me about Japanese culture.
But I couldn’t explain it well.

Then I can explain about Japanese culture next time when I am asked.

Japanese people say “Itadakimasu” before meal.
And say “Gochisousama” after meal.
If you don’t say this phrase, some people might think it’s impolite.

When they are about to leave somewhere then reply to the person leaving “itterasshai.”
And when they come back, they say “Tadaima”.
The family at home says “Okaeri” and welcomes you.
And reply “Okaeri” which means welcome back. Welcome home.

Those are part of Japanese custom.

その時、私は、適切に応える事ができませんでした。
なので、次に同じ質問をされた時、上手く応える事ができるように、文章を用意しました。

日本人は、ご飯を食べる前に、「いただきます」と言います。
そして、ご飯を食べ終わった後に、「ごちそうさま」と言います。
もし、それらの挨拶を言わない場合、失礼な人だと思われる可能性があります。

日本人は、家から外に出る時に、「行ってきます」と言います。
そして、彼らは帰ってきた時に、「ただいま」と言います。
家にいる家族は、「おかえりなさい」と言い、迎え入れます。

これは、日本では、とてもメジャーな習慣です。

Then, I decided to prepare a sentence, so that next time I can answer it well when I am asked the same question.
→I decided to prepare for it.
Then I can explain about Japanese culture next time when I am asked.

Japanese people say “Itadakimasu” before eating meal.
And they say “Gochisousama” after eat meal.
→before meal.
And say “〜” after meal.

If you don’t say those greetings, you may be considered rude by others
→if you don’t say this phrase , some people might think it’s impolite.
(Rudeまではいかないのでは？)

Japanese people say “Ittekimasu” when they go out of the house.
→when they are about to leave somewhere then reply to the person leaving “itterasshai.”
行ってきますは、家から出る時だけでなく、今いるところからまた別のところへ行く時にも使うため、言い回しを変更。
（例えば、会社から外に出る時など）

And when they come back, they say “Tadaima”.
