Japanese traditional purification ceremony

I went to purify.

Many Japanese people visit a shrine to protect themselves from evil spirits.

I went to “Waka-hachimangu（若八幡宮）” that is a popular shrine in Fukuoka.

I faced two terrible incidents that made me consult to lawyer 2 years ago.
In case the opponent claim their allegation one-sidedly and don’t listen to my argument, I was planning to sue them.

After these incidents, I decided to go to purify every year.

Shinto-priest get rid of evil spirits from us.

At first, write your name and address in the reception.

You can write not only your name but also your family member’s name. They don’t need to be there.

At that time, we offer some money called “Hatsuho-ryo”

There is no specific price.

I found out it is around 5,000yen to 10,000yen.

By the way, I didn’t know usual price when I visited there.
So, I offered 4,000yen, because we are family of 4.

Shinto-priest have a special item called “Oharai-bou”

He swing it and chant to remove evil spirits

And he call all visiter’s name.

After purification, you receive a bag of holy items called “Kumotsu”.

Those items vary how much you have paid.

If you paid more, you can get better items.

I got some sweets, chopstick, and amulet.

I gave some sweets to my family.

お祓いに行ってきました。

日本の多くの人々は、災厄を避けるために神社に訪れます。

私が行ったのは、「若八幡宮」という、福岡で有名な神社です。

一昨年、弁護士に相談に行くような事件が２つもあり、そのうち１件は、こちらの意見を一切聞き入れる事無く一方的に主張するつもりなら、民事訴訟に踏み切る程の出来事がありました。

そのような事件があってから、毎年行くように心がけています。

そこでは、神主さんが厄払いをしてくれます。

神社に行くと、まず祈願受付所にて、自分の名前と住所を書きます。

自分だけでなく、家族の名前を書くことができます。家族がそこにいる必要はありません。

この時、「初穂料」というお金を支払います。

金額は決まっていません。

調べてみると、相場は 5,000円～10,000円だそうです。

ちなみに私は相場を全然知らずに行き、家族１人あたり 1,000円ぐらいでいいか。と 4,000円を納めました。

神主さんは、「お祓い棒」と呼ばれる特殊な道具を持っています。

それを振り、災いを追い払います。

そして、参列者全員の名前を呼びます。

祈祷が終了すると、「供物」という神聖な道具を貰います。

供物の中身は、初穂料によって異なります。

もしあなたが高い初穂料を払えば、供物の内容はそれだけグレードアップします。

私は、お菓子と、お箸と、お守りを貰いました。

お菓子は、家族全員に食べてもらいました。
