I recently visited the Cherry Blossom Festival in Fukuoka Castle (Fukuoka-jo Sakura Matsuri).
This spring festival is held in Maizuru Park every year, located in the heart of Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City. Around 1,000 cherry trees bloom beautifully throughout the park, captivating all who visit.
At night, the cherry blossoms are illuminated, creating a magical and dreamlike atmosphere.
It’s truly a breathtaking experience to see the blossoms glowing against the historic stone walls of the castle.
There are also plenty of food and drink spots to enjoy.
You’ll find popular local cuisine, classic festival treats, a BBQ area where you can bring your own ingredients, and a special zone called “Sakura Chaya” where you can enjoy green tea called “Yame-cha”, traditional Japanese sweets, and sake.
One of the highlights of the festival is the special opening of historical exhibition that is usually not accessible to the public.
You can explore culturally significant sites such as Tamon Yagura, Shimonohashi Gomon, and the Shiomi Yagura, and feel a deeper connection to the history of Fukuoka Castle.
However, please note that this exhibition is only open during specific hours, so it’s a good idea to check the opening hour in advance.
「福岡城さくらまつり」という祭りに行ってきました。
これは、毎年春に福岡市中央区の舞鶴公園で開催される桜の祭典です。
園内にはソメイヨシノやシダレザクラなど約1,000本の桜が咲き誇り、訪れる人々を魅了します。
夜は、ライトアップされた桜を楽しむ事が出来ます。
とても幻想的な景色を楽しむ事が出来ます。
福岡の人気店や縁日ならではの味覚が楽しめたり、お好きな食材を持ち込んでBBQができるエリア、八女茶や甘味、日本酒などを堪能できる「さくら茶屋」など、多彩なグルメスポットを楽しむ事ができます。
歴史的建造物が特別公開されています。
指定重要文化財の多聞櫓や下之橋御門、（伝）潮見櫓など、普段は内部を見学できない歴史的建造物が特別公開され、福岡城の歴史を身近に感じることができます。
しかし、公開時間が限られているため、事前に調べておく方がいいです。
