I told with the Pilipino tutor the other day.
She showed me new year party’s picture.
There was a Christmas tree, I asked her

She told that many Philippinos display Christmas tree until the middle of January.
When I heard the custom, I was surprised.
And, I told her Japanese take off it as soon as Christmas is over, she was surprised.

So, I told the episode with my friend who lives in Spain.
She told that there is the event call “reyes magos” in January 1st.
Spanish display Christmas tree until then.

There are various customs depending on the country.

先日、フィリピンの講師と話をしたんだよ。
彼女が写真を見せてくれて、どう見ても年始祝いの様子なのに、クリスマスツリーが飾っていて、気になったんで聞いてみた。

フィリピンでは、クリスマスツリーは 1月中旬まで飾っておくが普通らしい。
それ聞いて、ちょっとびっくりした。
日本だと、クリスマスが終わると、すぐにツリーを片付けるよ、と言う話をすると、そっちの方に驚かれた。

この話をスペインに住んでる友人に話すと、スペインには “reyes magos” というイベントが 1月 6日にあって、
その日までツリーを飾るらしい。

国ごとに色々な習慣があって面白い。
