Questions asked at overseas job interviews : part 3

Sorry I missed to have a look through your second entry the day before.
Yes, I think they are very common opening questions for job interviews.
I though it is the same in Japan.

Is that so!?
There was a question that was difficult to answer for me.
Especially, “Why should we hire you?”.

If I think normally,
“Is your company not grasping the lack of resources and what human resources it needs?”
or
“You’re not going to find out if the applicant is the person you’re looking for!”
But that was a question to try my best to tell
“I am the person you need for your company”.

I’m talking to online English tutors about the topic, I guess my idea is correct.

I think it is part of the applicant’s ability to sell him/herself to the company.
They are looking for that.
It shows how much the person researched about the company and how well they understand what their strong points are.


そうなんだ!
中には答えるのが難しい質問があって、戸惑ったよ。
特に “Why should we hire you?” って質問。

普通に考えたら、
「応募者が、求めている人材かどうか見極めるつもりがねーのかよ!」
とか
「お前んトコの会社は、足りないリソースと必要な人材を把握してねーのかよ!」
とか思ってしまったけど、
あれは
「私はあなたの会社に必要な人材です」
と、ハッタリかますための質問だったんだな。

その話をネタに、他のオンライン英会話の講師と話しているんだけど、その考えで合ってる気がした。

–>Especially, “Why should we hire you?”.

–>”Is your company not grasping the lack of resources and what human resources it needs?”

It was a question to try my best
–> But that was a question to try my best to tell
“I am the person you need for your company”.
